Push the nozzle of the grease gun onto the grease fitting in the center of the bearing buddy. Pump the handle of the grease gun several times to fill the bearing buddy, and then install the dust cap.Bearing buddies are grease-based protective covers that go over the bearing of a wheel on a boat trailer. They are there to ensure that the wheel bearing is always covered in grease. In order to service or replace the wheel bearings on a boat trailer, it will be necessary to remove the bearing buddies from the wheel hub.

Make sure your work area is properly prepared. Lay sheets of paper towel on the ground to set the bearing buddies when they are taken off of the wheel hub. The bearing buddies will be full of grease and will need to be placed on a clean surface.Place a small block of wood against one side of the bearing buddy and strike it with the hammer.Set the block of wood on the opposite side of the fag bearing buddy and strike it with the hammer again.

Repeat the previous two steps to slowly work the bearing buddy away from the wheel hub. This is a slow process but will not damage the bearing buddy.Place a small pry bar or screwdriver under the bearing buddy and pry under it. The bearing buddy should then begin to slide off of the wheel hub.Pull the bearing buddy off of the hub and set it on the paper towel.Repeat the previous five steps to remove the bearing buddies from the other trailer wheels.

The video is correct. The diagram is more for identifying the parts and their basic placement. The o-ring actually is supposed to ride on the spindle but can actually fit through that stainless steel koyo bearings when not on the spindle. So basically, you will slide on the stainless steel ring first then slip the o-ring on. The grease seal will install in the back of the hub just like you would normally do with a seal. You would then install the hub.

When selecting bearing protectors the measurement needs to be as accurate as possible so you will need to use dial calipers. We have a digital set we use here for precise measurements. Since 2.24 is too large and 1.98 is too small the size in the middle is 2.08 like # BB2080. It looks like you are needing the bra for a bearing protector. We do not carry any bras that say Shorelander on them, but Bearing Buddy makes some that would probably work for you. Part # BB17B are 2 inch diameter, and the # BB19B are 2-1/8 inch in diameter. You would need to measure the outside diameter of your "buddy bearings" protector to determine which bra is the correct one for you.

Bearing Buddy does specify that the Bearing Buddy Threaded Bearing Protectors, part # BB2080T-SS, will fit the Reliable oil bath unit that has a 2.080 hub bore size and is on many of the EZ Loader trailers. Bearing Buddy recommends using Permatex or another grease proof gasket cement when installing a threaded Bearing Buddy. The plastic caps for the Bearing Buddy bearing protectors that you are looking for are the Bearing Buddy Bras. We carry three different bras, # BB17B, # BB19B and # BB23B that fit different ranges of Bearing Buddy sizes. You should choose the Bearing Buddy bra that will fit your model bearing buddy. The model numbers that these bras fit are listed on the product page.
